Who is STEM Girl?
Some Superheroes Wear Lab Coats Instead of Capes!
STEM Girl is the alter-ego of a Brisbane scientist-turned-high school lab technician. For 12 years, STEM Girl watched primary school students visit her science department, all full of wonder and excitement at the prospect of hands-on science activities. But by the time these same students reached high school, they already identified as 'science kids' or 'non-science kids'. Some students even thought science and maths was for 'geeks' and 'nerds'. Yikes!
Frustrated with the lack of support for primary schools in this area, STEM Girl set out to engage primary students with a series of fun, hands-on STEM activities aligned with the National Science Curriculum.
But to go a step further, STEM Girl developed a support package for the primary school teacher unlike anything else on the market today. This included producing a series of videos entitled 'STEM Girl to the Rescue', where STEM Girl not only comes to the aid of teachers and students by demonstrating each and every STEMkits activity but also gives real-life examples of why STEM rocks.
STEM Girl continues her fight to break down stereotypes of STEM by bringing STEM into the classroom in a fun and easy way - join her today!
